We now have an opportunity for an experienced Software Engineer to join Wellington’s engineering team, primarily developing and supporting automated product testing in a volume manufacturing environment. 

The successful candidate will be accustomed to working with minimum supervision and have technical responsibility for the development and ongoing maintenance of a fleet of Linux based automated test rigs, testing Wellington's range of smart motor and IoT products during manufacture. 

You will administer the Linux based production test servers, internal test and analytic tools and be responsible for the smooth and reliable operation of the production test system portfolio.

 

To be considered for this role, technical knowledge and experience in the following is essential:

  • Bachelors or higher in Software, Computer Science or similar
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in Software Engineering
  • Python expertise
  • SQL Database programming and administration
  • Remote administration of testers with networking programming knowledge
  • Strong embedded Linux application development on ARM based SBC
  • Basic Linux server administration skills
  • Experience with embedded communications interfaces (I2C, SPI) and Bluetooth LE
  • SQL Database administration
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with ability to quickly diagnose and provide solutions to production
  • Experience with issue trackers - e.g. JIRA, Bugzilla

 

It will be an advantage will be to have experience in: 

  • C/C++ expertise
  • Electronics, ability to read and interpret schematics
  • Development of production test systems for volume manufacturing

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to write Technical documents and work procedures
  • Be competent and comfortable working technically across different time zones and cultures
  • Be collaborative, innovative and inquisitive
  • Be comfortable and have the ability to interact at a technical level with contract manufacturers
